DELGADO SPLITS DH; GOES 5-1 IN DISNEY INVITATIONAL

Delgado spilt it’s Saturday Doubleheader in the final day of the 2011 Spring Training Invitational at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Delgado mounted a seven-run comeback in the sixth inning to overcome a 5-2 defect en route to their 9-7 victory over Brookdale Community College (New Jersey). Nate Fury’s 3-RBI triple in the sixth closed out the scoring. Wade Delauneville picked up his first win of the season on the mound for Delgado, with Nate Fury earning his third save as closer.

In the second game, Delgado scored their only two runs in the top of the first inning. Brook dale would tie the score in the fifth and score the game’s winning run in the bottom of the seventh on an infield single to secure Delgado’s 3-2 loss. Josh Wood got the loss in relief of Ryan Williams.

With the split, Delgado is 16-4 on the season. The Dolphins will open their lengthy home stand this Tuesday with a 6:30, single nine-inning game at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
