‘PHINS PICK TWO; SET TO OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY

Delgado picked two wins in their Friday evening doubleheader against McHenry County College (IL) at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In the first game, Delgado opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo homerun by Angelo Bruno, followed two additional runs as a result of Nate Fury’s double and a McHenry error. The Dolphins would also score three in the fourth and two in the sixth en route to their 8-1victory over the Fighting Scots. Ryan Williams pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits to improve to a 2-1 on the mound this season.

In the second game, the Dolphins scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Tyler Johns’ RBI-single to score Chad Gough-Fortenberry and break the tie, walking away with the 5-4 victory. Delgado had tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on Nate Fury’s RBI-single to force the extra inning. Josh Wood picked up his third win of the year in relief for the Dolphins.

With the wins, Delgado improves to 24-4 on the season and will open Miss-Lou conference play on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against Baton Rouge Community College at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.  Saturday’s games will be taped by Pelican Sports Television to air on a taped-delayed basis on Sunday evening at 8:00 a.m. and noon on Pelican Sports T.V. (Cox Channel 116 in New Orleans and Channel 1013 in Baton Rouge and Lafayette).
