Delgado defeated Faulkner State College on the road on Thursday to pick up it’s 28th win of the 2011 campaign.
The Dolphins picked up an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, when Chad Gough-Fortenberry homered, scoring Daniel Brockhoeft, who had reached on a single. Faulkner took a 4-3 lead in the fifth before Delgado answered the call in the eighth, when Angelo Bruno’s 2-RBI single reclaimed the 5-4 lead and the Dolphin victory. Wade Delauneville (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Lyndon Eusea on the mound.
Delgado (28-6) is currently ranked #23 in this week’s NJCAA poll. The Dolphins will return to Kirsch-Rooney Stadium this weekend to welcome Meridian Community College in a three-game, Miss-Lou conference series. Saturday’s Doubleheader and Sunday’s single, 9-inning game are each scheduled for a 2:00 start.
