EAGLES AVOID SWEEP AS DELGADO FALLS 6-1

Delgado fell to Meridian Community College 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in game three of this weekend’s Miss-Lou Conference series at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Delgado answered Meridian’s initial 2-0 spot in the bottom of the first inning when Daniel Brockhoeft scored on a passed ball to put the Dolphins’ solo run on the scoreboard. Meridian would go onto score a run in the third on a Delgado error and three runs in the sixth inning on a two-RBI double and an RBI-single to close the scoring at 6-1. Delgado posted only four hits and left seven runners stranded to account for their seventh loss of the season.

With the loss, Meridian avoided the weekend series sweep following Delgado’s doubleheader victory over the Eagles on Saturday. Delgado (30-7, 3-3) will return to action this Thursday in a non-conference doubleheader against Faulkner State Community College at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
