Delgado split its Thursday afternoon doubleheader against Faulkner State Community College at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium…
In the first game, Delgado picked up three runs in the fourth inning, which was led off by Daniel Brockhoeft’s walk, followed by Chad Gough-Fortenberry’s double and Alex Prestenback’s RBI-single. Fortenberry would score on a Faulkner error and Prestenback would score on the back end of a double play. Lyndon Eusea picked up the win on the mound, pitching 6 1/3, allowing only one run, walking one, and striking out four.
In the second game, Faulker State took and early 2-0 lead in the second inning, which Delgado cut in half in the fourth inning, when Chad Gough-Fortenberry scored as a result of Alex Prestenbach’s sacrifice fly. Faulker State scored additional single runs in the sixth and seventh to take a 4-1 lead and the win. Ryan Williams picked up the loss on the mound for the Dolphins.
Delgado (31-8) will host LSU-Eunice this Sunday in a non-conference double header at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. A single, 9-inning game gets underway at 4:00, with a 7-inning contest to immediately follow.
