DOLPHINS CLOSE REGULAR SEASON WITH SPLIT

Delgado closed out regular season play on Saturday, splitting their non-conference Doubleheader at LSU-Eunice.

In the first game, LSU-Eunice carried a 1-0 lead until the fifth, when Angelo Bruno’s RBI-single scored Daniel Brockhoeft, who had reached base on a double. The game would remain tied 1-1 until the bottom of the ninth, when Matt Richard’s RBI single scored the Bengals’ second run, ending the game in walk off fashion. Brent Bonvillain pitched seven innings, allowing a run and striking out five. Wade Delauneville picked up the loss in relief, allowing the winning run to cross the plate in the ninth inning.

Jake Fabre went the distance on the mound for the Dolphins in game two, pitching seven complete innings on the mound with a two hit shutout. The Delgado offense was responsible for seven hits, scoring single runs in the first, fourth, sixth, and seventh en route to the 4-0 victory to close regular season play.

Delgado (37-14) will host the 2011 Region XXIII Miss-Lou Conference tournament on May 13-15, featuring Delgado CC, Meridian CC, and Baton Rouge CC.
