DCC MEN FALL TO 5TH-RANKED NORTHWEST FL
The Delgado Men’s team traveled to Niceville, Florida on Thursday night to face the 5th-ranked Northwest State Raiders in a non-conference game…
The Dolphins fell behind 51-41 at halftime and could not overcome the Northwest State College, losing 110-82. Rashaun Claiborne scored 18 and Renard Smith scored 13 to lead the Delgado scoring. With the loss, Delgado falls to 7-7 on the season and begins the holiday hiatus. The Men’s and Women’s teams will return to action on Monday, January 3rd to host Pearl River Community College in the Michael Williamson Center.
DOLPHINS SPLIT CO-LIN SERIES
Delgado split its road series against Copiah-Lincoln College on Tuesday night in Wesson, Mississippi… In the Ladies’ game, the Dolphins trailed by two at the half but could not pull out a victory en route to their 87-59 loss to the Wolfpack. Shaquinta James led the scoring with 20 points, followed by Erne Snowden (13) and Claudia Tasker (11).
The Men’s team took a 33-29 lead heading into the half, which led to their eventual 82-75 win over Co-Lin. Renard Smith had 23 points, followed by Josh Major who finished the game with 17.
The Men’s team will travel to Niceville, Florida on Thursday to face Northwest Florida College before their holiday break.
DELGADO FALLS TO PEARL RIVER
The Dolphins dropped their pair of games against Pearl River Community College on Thursday evening in Poplarville, Mississippi.
In the Women’s game, Delgado trailed by ten at the half and could not recover, resulting in the team’s 64-53 loss to Pearl River. Raven Holmes scored 14 points, Shaquinta James scored 13 and Erne Snowden scoring 8.
The Men also suffered a loss to the Wildcats, falling 100-83. Darrell Williams scored 21, Renard Smith scored 19, and Rashaun Claiborne scored 15 to lead the Dolphin scoring. Delgado will play the Loyola J.V. at 7:00 tomorrow evening at Loyola.
DELGADO WOMEN FALL; MEN PICK UP OVERTIME WIN AGAINST BISHOP STATE
Delgado traveled to Mobile, Alabama on Thursday night to face Bishop State…
In the women’s game, the Lady Dolphins trailed at halftime and could not gain the lead en route to their 55-48 loss to the Wildcats. Delgado was led by Shaquinta James and Claudia Tasker, each with 10 points.
The Delgado Men trailed by eight at the half, before rallying to tie the game 70-70 at the end of regulation. The Dolphins outscored the Wildcats 10-6 in overtime, defeating Bishop State by a final score of 80-76. Delgado was led by Darrell Williams (19), Rashaun Claiborne (17), and Renard Smith (12).
Delgado will return to the Michael Williamson Center on Monday against Southwest Mississippi…the women’s game tips off at 5:00 followed by the Men at 7:00 p.m.
DELGADO/SOUTHWEST RESULTS - 11/22
The Dolphins traveled to Summit, Mississippi on Monday evening to face Southwest Mississippi Community College.
In the early game, Raven Holmes shot 24 and Shaquinta James scored 14, but it was not enough to hold off the Dolphins’ 95-70 loss to Southwest.
In the Men’s game, the Delgado took a 46-33 lead and never lost it en route to their 93-71 victory over the Bears. The Dolphins were led offensively by Josh Major (22), Darrell Williams (19), Rashaun Claiborne (16), and Renard Smith (16). With the win, Delgado improves to 4-3 for the season. The Dolphins will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and return to action on Monday, November 29 against Hinds Community College in the Williamson Center.
