DOLPHINS OPEN SEASON AGAINST JONES COUNTY

Delgado opened its 2011-2012 basketball campaign against Jones County on Thursday evening in the Michael Williamson Center.

 

In the Ladies’ game, Jones County took a 32-28 lead into the half and never relinquished it en route to a narrow 68-63 victory over Delgado. The Dolphins were led by Andralina Marshell, who scored 16 and Claudia Tasker and Deangenee’ Thomas, who scored 14 and 11 points respectively. Jones was led by Alecia Autman, who scored 28 points, 18 of which came in the second half of the game.

 

The Dolphin Men opened the season with a 95-80 win over the Bobcats. Delgado took an early 48-39 lead into the half and led the rest of the exciting opener enroute to the win. Justin Harris led the scoring with 21 points, with Melvin Davis and Rashaun Claiborne  posting 20 and 18 points respectively.

 

Delgado will return to action next Tuesday against Mississippi Gulf Coast in the Williamson Center. The Women will tip off at 5:00, followed by the Men’s game at 7:00 p.m.

DCC LOSES TO SOUTHERN-SHREVE IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Southern-Sheveport led by ten at the half, never losing the lead en route to their 70-50 victory over the Dolphins. Faytra Washington led the Delgado scoring with 16, followed by Raven Holmes (14), and Brittany Walker (11). 

The Delgado Men held a 49-46 lead at halftime, but could not hold that lead, falling to Southern-Shreveport 94-86. Rashaun Claiborne led the Dolphins with 29 points and 16 rebounds.

DELGADO WOMEN FALL; MEN PICK UP OVERTIME WIN AGAINST BISHOP STATE

Delgado traveled to Mobile, Alabama on Thursday night to face Bishop State…

In the women’s game, the Lady Dolphins trailed at halftime and could not gain the lead en route to their 55-48 loss to the Wildcats. Delgado was led by Shaquinta James and Claudia Tasker, each with 10 points.

The Delgado Men trailed by eight at the half, before rallying to tie the game 70-70 at the end of regulation. The Dolphins outscored the Wildcats 10-6 in overtime, defeating Bishop State by a final score of 80-76. Delgado was led by Darrell Williams (19), Rashaun Claiborne (17), and Renard Smith (12).

Delgado will return to the Michael Williamson Center on Monday against Southwest Mississippi…the women’s game tips off at 5:00 followed by the Men at 7:00 p.m. 

HINDS SLIPS PAST DELGADO

Hinds Community College slipped past Delgado in both of Monday night’s games at Delgado’s Williamson Center.

In the Ladies’ game, Hinds overpowered Delgado en route to the Dolphins’ 67-52 loss.  Shaquinta James led the Delgado scoring with 17 points, with Raven Holmes (8), Ariente Williams (7), and Myaisha Nixon (6).

In the Men’s game, the teams were tied 42-42 at halftime, but Hinds slipped past the Dolphins 96-87 in an exciting. Delgado was led offensively by Darrell Williams (21), Renard Smith (17), Josh Major (14), Brandon Diggs (13), and Rashaun Claiborne (12).

Delgado will travel to Mobile, Alabama on Thursday to face Bishop State. The Lady Dolphins tip off at 5:15 followed by the Men’s game at 7:15.
